Information Technology, abbreviated as IT, refers to the technology, science and devices related to the collection, processing, management, and transfer of information worldwide using the computer, especially on a global system. It includes the computer, the Internet, the worldwide telephone network, the satellites related to the IT activities, and the related branches of knowledge providing workable models. We are living in the age of Globalization. Now the whole world can be considered a single village or rather a family, of which the countries are different members cooperating and competing with one another. Now trade and commerce has transcended all narrow boundaries of nations. Macroeconomics has experienced a drastic change in its theories and approaches. Theories and practices of management have become more holistic and culture-sensitive. The whole edifice of civilization is therefore centering around the efficient use of information. The availability of information that is a precondition for perfect completion must be ensured to ensure quality, ethics, survival and progress. Therefore the importance of the IT can hardly be overstated. Truly speaking, IT in a sense, has become the central nervous system of the world economy. We cannot imagine an hour of efficient activities and fruitful decision making without the IT facilities in this age of industrialization. Thanks to the development of science, IT has become a well developed body of knowledge. Now al most all universities of the world, including the ones established in Bangladesh, are offering well-planned courses on IT. A very special and functional branch of this field is the Management information system, abbreviated as MIS. Needless to say, this branch of science has become part and parcel of modern management and organizational administration. Nobody knows to what high an apex the IT will soar in the future. Therefore, a precondition for surviving in today's world is to keep pace with all latest developments of IT.
