Illiteracy is a great problem in Bangladesh. It badly hampers all our development programmes. It is considered as a curse for the nation.
Now. write a dialogue between yourself and your friend, Rumi about how to eradicate illiteracy from the country.
Myself : How are you Rumi ?
Rumi : Fine, Thank you. And how about you ?
Myself : I'm also fine. Rumi, most of the people of our country do not know how to read or write.
Rumi : Yes, Illiteracy is a curse in our country.
Myself : Illiteracy hampers all our development programmes.
Rumi : Certainly.
Myself : How can we eradicate illiteracy ?
Rumi : It a gigantic task. We should set up adult literacy centres at every village.
Myself : At present primary education is being given free.
Rumi : Primary education has been made compulsory.
Myself : Yes.
Rumi : The government also supplies books to the students up to class IX free of cost.
Myself : These programmes will help a lot to eradicate illiteracy.
Rumi : Do all the children go to school?
Myself : No, they don't.
Rumi : Some children drop out after two or three years.
Myself : That's right. What is the cause of it?
Rumi : Poverty.
Myself : I think, we all have a duty in this regard.
Rumi : Of course.
Myself : We should encourage the poor parents to send their children to school.
Rumi : Do we have enough school's in the country?
Myself : No.
Rumi : So we should also set up more schools in the country.
Myself : The government alone will not be able to eradicate illiteracy.
Rumi : Of course. All the educated people should come forward in this regard.
Myself : The students can help to eradicate illiteracy.
Rumi : Certainly. They can teach the illiterate people during their long vacation.
Myself : Thanks a lot.
Rumi : You're welcome. It was nice speaking to you.
